Something has been bothering me ever since sitting through the DNC (besides the throbbing headache I got from all the yelling and screaming.) What is bothering me is the Democrats insistence that everything they do is for “the middle class.” This is a term that is widely used but never defined. Who are the middle class? In my opinion the middle class are all of us out here in the flyovers just trying to live our lives without some government cone-head dictating how many stalks of asparagus we need to eat with every meal. We’re the ones who get up in the morning, commute to a job or a business we built, put in an 8-15 hour day, raise kids, go to ballgames, coach little league, go to church on Sundays, volunteer at coat drives, pay a mortgage, own a car, see a blockbuster movie over the summer and like it, go to Chili’s and eat a Bloomin’ Onion and like it, have one or more rifles, shotguns or handguns handed down from a beloved relative, have been hunting or have eaten something freshly killed at some point in our lives.
So it puzzles me when I hear the Lefty Democrats trying to court “the middle class.” They HATE us. First of all, we’re employed. This makes us the enemy. We’re not the “downtrodden” who needs the “hand up” they keep talking about. We’re the ones who have too much. They’d like you to believe they’re talking about people who make more than you but they’re not. Even if the government confiscated all the wealth of the country’s wealthiest millionaires and billionaires they’d run out of money in a matter of days. (Someone did the math. It’s true.) The only way they can get the trillions more money they want to fund all their great ideas is to take it from us; the many that make up the middle class.
They hate meat eaters, which is who makes up most of the middle class. They want us to eat more kale for inexplicable reasons that probably have to do with making us too weak to fight back a government invasion. They hate guns, and the middle class owns lots of guns. They are constantly trying to limit the middle class access to their guns (while at the same time doing nothing to limit the “downtrodden’s” access to the illegal gun trade which leads to 30 deaths a week in Chicago.)
They hate children. While the middle class is busily trying to get pregnant by any means necessary (invitro, fertility drugs, adoption, strange Chinese herbs, acupuncture, etc.) the Left is trying to convince us we love abortion. Actually, the middle class hates it. It’s the “downtrodden” areas the Left targets with their abortion mills aborting minority babies and smashing Hitler’s record. They pretend birth control is as important as the air we breathe, but the middle class disagrees. We tend to think affordable gasoline is more necessary.
They hate food chains we all love. They hate Chili’s and Olive Garden and McDonald’s and Chickfila. They do their best to convince us the food is poison but we don’t listen and we still go to Red Robin for a giant heart attack on a plate because we like burgers and we’re adults, thank you very much. They tell us we should go to shi-shi raw food bars and drink wheat grass and all other manner of food that my dog wouldn’t touch. They want us to buy expensive organic produce with weird names I can’t pronounce. The middle class chooses to buy normal produce, wash it well and pray over it before ingesting.
They hate God. They hate religion and the morality it brings. They have fought to break down American morality for many many years and they may be on the verge of succeeding in some circles, but not in the middle class. God is still very alive in the middle class. We go to church, Bible studies, MOPS groups, take part in women’s ministries, feed the poor, introduce drug addicts to healing and not food stamps, collect food and give it away and march in the right to life walks. The Left doesn’t want you to give to the poor, they want to FORCE you to give to the poor of their choice. (Like “poor” teacher’s pensions who make $76,000 a year in Chicago average.)
They hate stay at home moms. If you’re raising your children at home yourself, you are part of the hated middle class. They spread rumors that it’s a “luxury” for you to be where you are. They whip up class envy against you even though you may have sacrificed a second car or a bigger house so you could raise your own children. But beyond that, they hate you because you are raising your children with those middle class values they hate so much. And if you homeschool, you’re an even bigger threat because they won’t be able to get their social claws into your kids in state institutions. You could be raising the next John Adams and that is totally unacceptable to the Left. What they want are more community organizers like Saul Alinsky and Barack Obama. They want more union drones, more group-thinkers and collectivists not more Sarah Palins. They certainly don’t want free-thinking patriots.
They hate patriotism. If you even need an example, just remember the Democrats who wouldn’t wear flag pins after 9-11 or the president himself who refused to put his hand over his heart during the national anthem. Their use of our colors is like blasphemy because they mock the red white and blue by using it for their anti-American agenda. They support flag burning but are against Koran burning. And yet, they want you to believe they share your middle class values. They lift up soldiers at their convention while at the same time refusing to let those on the battlefield fight and win the way they can. Instead we take casualty after casualty. They don’t love soldiers, they hate them. And soldiers’ families? They send them form letters with Obama’s signature in auto-pen when they lose their heroes. They constantly try to undercut funding from soldiers to give it to teacher’s unions. They don’t love soldiers. You know who does? The middle class. Don’t be fooled. If you’re middle class, no one in the Democrat party loves you or wants the best for you. They simply want to raid your life to pay for their voters’ “needs”.
Perhaps we should start a third party called The Middle Class party.
The following article in the American Spectator finally shed the light on this thing that has been pulling at my mind. Bravo Jeffrey Lord! They don’t love the middle class. They hate you. Read the whole thing. It’s illuminating.

Very extreme representation!
The Left is extreme. This is what makes them totally unable to comprehend the middle class.
Brad Vinson, the very fact that you think that this VERY ACCURATE portrayal of the middle class is “extreme” is telling. I would bet a box of dark chocolate that you are either an elitist or an elitist-wanna-be.
Pingback: Who Exactly ARE the Middle Class?
Technically, the middle class is comprised of those whose incomes are between the 26th and 75th percentiles. It is a term with specific meaning to economists, but is loosely bandied about by everyone else.
I’m glad you brought this up. It’s good to know what the economic definition is. However, like you said, both political parties constantly blather on about the middle class without ever defining it. And if you ask most people they think they are the middle class. My point is, most people don’t subscribe to the kind of radical un-American “values” the Left embraces.
You are crazy and probably in need of psychotropic medication.
Ha! This is my favorite comment of the day. Thank you for being creative and not resorting to profanity.
Outstanding post Megan. This stay at home dad agrees with you 100%. Please keep up the good fight, patriot.
I agree with you! I listen to the dems denigrating all of the values we hold dear while blathering on about how they are on my side and wonder what they are smoking! I, too, was mostly a stay-at-home-mom and it was not a luxury. We’ve never bought a new car and rarely ever took a real vacation. I never had a stylish wardrobe and still get my haircut at the local barbershop, not some fancy salon. We made the choice and I’m not complaining because our children have turned into wonderfully responsible young adults who cannot believe the entitlement mentality of the left and the occupoopers. The democrat party is not our friend.
I agree with you on a lot of this, with a couple of reforms:
First, you are describing Left-wing nut jobs, not your average Democrat.
Second, the Republican tax plan will be just as hard if not harder on the Middle Class – the difference being that the Republican plan would FIX the economy as opposed to making it worse.
Lastly, your opinion that they hate God is offensive to me as a true Republican. Republicans have no reason to believe in any god whatsoever, much less love it. I have more of the “morality it brings” than most self proclaimed religious people, yet I do not attend church. God is alive in the hearts and minds of those who believe, regardless of political affiliation or class. Going to church, Bible studies, MOPS groups, and taking part in women’s ministries do not a good person make (I also don’t understand how MOPS became lumped in with your fantasy book groups). I also feed the poor, introduce drug addicts to healing and not food stamps, and collect food and give it away. Those are what make you good, not believing in magical sky wizards.
Thanks for writing. Atheism is not a widespread middle class value. Hate to break it to you. And as for the extremism in the Democrat party, it is clear the extremists are running the show (example the overwhelming support of leaving Jerusalem and God out of the platform and adopting gay marriage into the platform.) There are no run of the mill Democrats in the party anymore except for the ones who haven’t bothered to figure out their party left them a long time ago and they should be voting with the other side. You seem confused about MOPS…which stands for Mothers of Preschoolers and is a Christian organization for moms, like a support group/women’s group/childcare/coffee break sort of thing. I’m not sure why you think this is a “fantasy book group” whatever that means. I’m glad you think you’re a good person. However, I am not. I am a sinner. I’ve lied, I’ve cheated, I’ve committed murder in my heart and broken about every commandment there is. Luckily I have a savior who paid my fine. He’s willing to do that for you too. Take care!
Didn’t realize that MOPS is Christian based. Thank you for clarifying!
No problem!
These days people claim that the American dream is only about getting wealthier than the other guy. That’s a 21st-century twisted view of the American dream. If you read our founding fathers the American dream was not about getting wealthier.
The original American dream is about not being put and stuffed and locked into a class. It’s about being able to work for what you think is right and good. To be able to to give a hand up to the guy next you, who is struggling a bit, or have somebody else give you a hand up because you’re a human being and not because you’re of a lower class. The American dream is about having people look at you as a human and to treat you as a friend and fellow human, warts and all. Read the Declaration of independence.
The American left is about Marxist socialism. And to be a Marxist Socialist sin is defined by class. It’s a sin to be in a class higher than the class you are in. It’s a sin to do anything that would move youself into a higher social class. It’s a sin to not be stuffed and locked into a class. It”s a sin to not work to destroy wealth and the ability to create it.
In my understanding sin is anything that denigrates God or other humans. I do not want to denigrate the American left for what they are doing. They are doing a fine job of trying to live out what they believe.
My problem is that I am trying to live out the original American dream, not theirs’.
Right — and Mitt Romney goes and tells Good Morning America that “middle income is $200,000 to $250,000 and less.”
200 to 250 – thousand. dollars.
talk about “courting the middle class”…
The Grand Old Party :
They hate the environment. Republicans would prefer to make more money and have future generations bear the cross of asthma and environmentally caused cancers rather than control our damage to the the earth and atmosphere. Republicans are the ONLY conservative party in the world who deny the fact that climate change is occurring despite disasters such as Hurricane Sandy.
Republicans cry “small government!” and yet these same people want to legislate their tastes and beliefs so that all 330 million of us have to abide by their “good book.” Many democrats acknowledge that abortion is wrong and do not encourage women to have them. BUT democrats believe that most areas of social life should be ungoverned. People should use their morality and ethics to make good decisions, not simply listen to the INFALLIBLE LAW.
Republicans hate our troops. “Support the Troops!” is a common catch-phrase among the conservatives, and yet they view support as sending them to the middle east to die, and leaving them there for decades with no sign of departure. Let us not forget the imaginary “weapons of mass destruction” that Bush said lied in Iraq. Let us remember that it wasn’t until Obama’s administration that we left a country we should have never invaded.
Republicans hate an educated society. Conservative run state governments across the country have cut spending for education more than ever before. EDUCATION IS THE KEY TO A NATION’S SUCCESS. This is a belief long held by both parties. Yet when things got tough republicans would rather give each other bonuses than spare education. I point to my own governor, Governor Corbett from the state of Pennsylvania, who has cut millions from our state budget and yet found the funds to give his closest staff thousands in bonuses. The corruption within the GOP is unending.
I look forward to your response to my comments and I implore you to research some of my claims. I am acutely aware that most republicans are born and die republicans and the same goes for democrats, but I’d like to think that we can accept the flaws in both parties and meet in the middle. Moderation is what has kept our country on top of the world for the last century, presidents like Eisenhower and Clinton are prime examples of how to comprise and ignore the loud extremists on both ends of the spectrum.
Public education on display…
I actually go to Catholic School but that’s irrelevant.
