If a Democrat Senator hadn’t rescued Republican Senator Glen Grothman, serious harm was coming his way in the form of mob action. I’ve been to a lot of Tea Parties. At every one of them, we obeyed the police (because we actually believe in the rule of law.) When they said move, we moved. When they said we needed to start marching, we marched. We understand that public safety is a priority and we respect police officers. We also pick up after ourselves and we don’t chase people around and scare them to death.
The following video is frightening. If you want to know where the real violence and hatred is, look to the Left. They needed people in their crowd who were not totally brain-dead to remind them that “cameras are rolling” so as not to give America the impression that they’re just criminals and thugs (which they clearly are.) As the crowd rushes Grothman and traps him against a locked door, a Democrat Senator and a few others are left to physically push back the crowd from descending in a mad fury on him. They start motioning for peace and trying to change the chant to “peaceful” (which must be their code word for “back off, the cameras are rolling.”) It is so scary to see this in action. I defy you to find one video of Tea Partiers acting like this. If this is what our public school teachers consider proper behavior and civil actions, it’s simply one more reason to get your kids OUT of public schools. No wonder the young are so disrespectful. Look at their teachers! They are the real SHAME.
Where are the calls for civility? Where is the crying Nancy Pelosi sniffling about the “climate of violence?” Where are all the indignant calls for being thoughtful in our debate? If the Democrat Senator (I don’t know his name yet, but I’ll find out) hadn’t been there, what would that crowd have done to Grothman? I don’t think they were just going to yell at him. If they weren’t planning violence, then why did the Senator and his aids have to physically restrain the crowd?
There wasn’t one Tea Party where one of our spokespeople had to get on a loudspeaker to beg the crowd not to kill someone. This is an outrage. The police should have been there also. Where were they? Why aren’t they protecting a senator doing his job? Where are the crowd control cops? They were at our events. Don’t they have cops for security at these things? Total FAIL. (Sidenote: kudos to the Democrat who protected his friend and colleague.)
