What else is new? Playing politics as a rule, Chicago Democrats are not going to seat Mark Kirk in time for the lame-duck session. He should be seated immediately because he was elected to finish the last 6 months that Roland Burris was serving as well as the next full term. In this scenario, he should be seated immediately. But the Chicago machine will write new rules and won’t seat him in time. And no one will do anything. Because no one can. Chicago Republicans are bound, gagged and beaten on a regular basis. Of course, Mark Kirk is their kind of Republican. A guy who votes with Democrats most of the time! So why they would want to stop him is not clear, but typical.
