Real Feminism

Here’s an excerpt I took off the National Organization for Women’s website.

In 2005, 1,181 women were murdered by an intimate partner.1 That’s an average of three women every day. Of all the women murdered in the U.S., about one-third were killed by an intimate partner.2

According to the National Crime Victimization Survey, which includes crimes that were not reported to the police, 232,960 women in the U.S. were raped or sexually assaulted in 2006. That’s more than 600 women every day.6

So 603 women are assaulted daily in this country, 3 of whom die and 600 survive rape…per day. That’s a staggering number. And yet, NOW does not support conceal carry for women. In fact, when I searched for feminist advice on how to survive a rape, all I came up with were two theories.

1. Passive resistance: i.e. talking, pleading, reasoning, peeing (seriously), throwing up, crying, appealing to the humanity of your attacker.

2. Actual resistance: i.e. screaming for help, threatening with calling the police, kicking, biting, scratching

Gee. Sounds effective. Clearly it isn’t if over a quarter million women a year are raped or killed. Strangely enough, in none of the feminist advice did I see any advice on practical preventative action for just such a situation. Let’s be honest, no matter how many women become firefighters (with different tests to suit their strength limits) average women have never been, nor will we ever be as strong as the average man. Feminists love to call for “equality” and sing about how equal we are but it’s a lie. Women will never be truly equal to a man until all women are allowed to carry a firearm. Imagine if all those women mentioned above had a revolver in their purse. Might not a large majority of them escaped unharmed, leaving the world a safer place with one less attacker to worry about? I feel that if you truly love women, like the feminists claim to, you would do everything in your power to make sure that women don’t have to “survive” rape, but that they never get raped in the first place! What about rape PREVENTION?

Feminists do suggest ways to prevent rape. One of them is not to be alone with a man. Seriously? That is the equivalent to telling a girl not to wear a miniskirt. It’s outrageous. It illustrates perfectly how unequal we truly are. Do men fear being alone with other men? I don’t think men understand what it is like for women to fear, literally, half the population. You want to talk about disadvantaged, every second person we meet could be a rapist! And it is unnerving. But there is no way you’re going to be able to avoid being alone with men, in an elevator, a parking garage…anywhere. Why should women have to be afraid of being alone with a man? Why shouldn’t that man be afraid that a woman might have a gun? That’s true equality, both being equally afraid of the other. Without a gun in the equation, the fear is all one sided.

I have always known that feminism is bad for women. From the sexual revolution on, feminists have had terrible ideas that have hurt women. The sexual revolution itself robbed women of the one thing they want the most….husbands! With the free love mentality and birth control, men got a new kind of freedom; the ability to get laid and never have any consequence or responsibility. It deprived generations of children from their fathers, made single motherhood normal and destroyed the lives of countless children. Now I’m sure there are going to be feminists out there who are outraged that I just said that women want husbands most of all. But this is a truth a few gals with short haircuts cannot cover up. The majority of women out there want husbands and children and a minivan. Just watch the Bachelor. There is no end to the women out there who are now, thanks to the “women’s movement” desperate for a husband. And none of them know why they don’t have one. But why should men marry? They get sex for free and they can live with their Mommies until they’re 40. Who would want to support a wife when you can stay an immature a-hole forever?

Then there’s abortion. Feminists claim to be so concerned for women’s rights but completely skip over millions of unborn women who are, right now, being flushed down a drain. This is an unconscionable contradiction. The same can be said about elderly women. When was the last time that NOW came out strongly against euthanasia of elderly women? They didn’t even come to the aid of a woman who was possibly put into a vegetative state BY HER HUSBAND in the case of Terri Shiavo. Like all liberals, they sided with the husband who wanted to pull the plug!

The conservative movement is for the rights of ALL women. Not just those we pick and choose. A few days ago I heard a poll that said the Tea Parties were predominately male and white. What a crock. At every Tea Party I’ve been to the women outnumber the men. My husband has only been to one and that was to pick me up! And I go with the same group of women to every event and not one of their husbands comes! A woman started our local group. We have the most compelling women on the national stage right now that no one on the left can touch in a meaningful way. Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann…these gals can draw a crowd. And they represent everything women should be proud of. Strength, fertility, mothering, independence…let me ask you something. Would you ever consider attacking Sarah in a dark alley? I didn’t think so. She’s probably strapped with 6 weapons at all times and GOOD FOR HER.

Every person has the right to their life and in order to keep that life you must have the right to defend it. And women are at a huge disadvantage when it comes to protecting their lives. Because of this, we as women should make conceal carry (or open carry for that matter) a women’s issue. We will not lay down and allow any man to violate us because we want to “survive”. That is outrageous and sinister advice. We should pledge right now that we will never let an attack take place because we will exercise our 2nd amendment rights and stop an attack before it starts. And if someone calling themselves a “feminist” won’t get behind us in this, they are a fraud and a phony and should be called out for it. I am officially calling the old feminism led by the likes of Gloria Steinem and women named “Pat” dead. There’s a new feminism in town, and it carries firearms.

I wrote a new song that I debuted at the Tea Party last Saturday about this issue. My guitar playing is really bad and I had just written the song the night before, which is why the guitar playing is so bad…I kinda forgot the chords :) But I’m posting it anyway because the message is good and I want to inspire the women out there who read this page to get bold, get in the face of your representatives and demand they lift the restrictions on our 2nd amendment rights that will get us killed or raped one day. This is the most important equal rights issue out there for women. Crime is going up. If you want to live, you must protect yourself.

Great post, totally agree with your comments on the gun control issue. Concealed carry is legal in all but 2 states, IL being one of them. Chicago is one of the most highly regulated cities outside of DC yet is in the running for murder rate capital of the US each year. God forbid one of those gang bangers or potential rapists would have fear of a woman pulling a pistol out of their purse to equalize the situation. Keep up the posts, loved the tea party video BTW.
